Move Over Millennials – Meet Generation Z

Most companies are just now figuring out how to recruit and retain Millennials and what happens? Along comes the next group – Meet Generation Z!

Coming to your business in 2025

According to research done by ad agency sparks & honey Generation Z will be wildly different than the Millennials.

Generation Z is going to push businesses and leaders to think and operate very differently than they have in the past. I predict companies that get on board with this generation will excel in ways they never even imagined. When you listen to ‘how’ Generation Z describes their future world (unless you are a stick in the mud person with old thinking) it’s about a vision of integrating science, technology and life overall. A blurring of the boundaries between everything they believe in or are involved with.

When you listen to ‘how’ Generation Z describes their future world it’s about a vision of integrating science, technology and life overall. A blurring of the boundaries between everything they believe in and are involved with. Unless you are an old stick in the mud – you get this and you are EXCITED because you can envision the future they describe.

This generation has grown up with computers in their hands practically before birth, terrorism, a seemingly never ending war and recession. Not coddled by their parents, they have been given space to find answers on their own so they are very self directed. These young people have a fantastical idea of how one could gain skills needed for a job, how many jobs they will actually have and how much money they can make. They are creative and tech savvy and they will challenge traditional gender roles more than any other generation.

Generation Z will give more but also demand more of work, life, businesses they support, the government and the world. This generation believes that humanity is inclusive of diversity. (multiracial children are the fastest growing youth group in the US) This kind of thinking will expand human consciousness; no longer tolerant of businesses that hoard resources or governments that short cut the community to save a few dollars. This generation is going to hold themselves personally accountable, the government accountable and businesses accountable for not doing the right thing when the situation presents itself.

Generation Z wants to REALLY make a difference.

If you are a leader or business owner that is not afraid of creativity and ideas as big as the Milky Way, start figuring out how you can tap into this generation and get them on board. Your company and brand will need to appeal to them more than any other generation in order for them to work for you.

I know 2025 seems a long way away – but time flies.
